between you and me

There seems that sometimes you can truly appreciate the strength and beauty of something only when you let it go. As if, by holding on to it, you were restraining its natural power.

The child, the voice, the lover, the bird, the story.

Of course, restraint is important some times. But it's so easy to get mixed up between holding something to support it, and holding on to it for your own sake, for your love or your fear.

I don't think letting go has to mean detachment. I think it's more about respecting the self-space of the other. It's about living alongside, rather than keeping them within you.
