the midwife songs

I have a thousand birthdays. Midsummer, many years ago, was when my body found me, in a hospital in a tiny country at the edge of the world. But since then I have been born again and again, deeper and wider and beyond the bones, as dreaming parts of my self have been awakened by a particular old song or story, or the unthreaded tale of a storm. And one day I will be whole - perhaps long after my body is gone - and then, I suspect, I will be the entire universe.

  1. indeed you will. it's odd how it can take death to remind us that we are just that.
