the weeping woman

Sometimes you cry and the tears show you where the roses want to grow.

Where some rich fat seed lies waiting under the soil in your heart, left just long enough to become ripe, and now it needs tears of longing, of wishing, to give it strength that it might break through, rise up, eat the light, sing your heart's deep secrets.

Sometimes you cry for what is beautiful.

  1. Your words and Susan's artwork touched me deeply today. I have been watering my small place in this world with my tears for the last couple of years, looking, looking for what good might want to grow.♥

  4. Funny you should write this today. I'm sitting here with my morning coffee and suddenly remembering a snippet of one of my dreams from the night, which I'd forgotten because it wasn't the last. I was crying - over something I do not recall, but something "sentimental" or beautiful. What I do recall is pondering the issue as a side track to the incident, while still dreaming, "I must have really opened up to sensitivity and vulnerability to cry over such things, and willingly, because this is ok." (I'm the person next to you picking the camera angles apart while you bawl your eyes out over some romantic twist)

  6. that's a fine image---that notion of a seed in the heart that is drawn to growth by our tears...

  7. Sometimes I think longing is just too painful, other times it seems the most beautiful word I know.
